Actor's Magical Journey from Potato Fields to Stardom in Wicked Films

Demitri Lampra, an actor from Tile Hill in Coventry, described his experience working on the two Wicked movies as 'magical' and surreal. He appears in both films, singing and dancing alongside stars like Ariana Grande in the vibrant Munchkin land scenes. Demitri shared that Ariana was a 'wonderful soul' who made a point to thank the cast for helping her achieve her dream of being in Wicked. He even invited her to Coventry for a glass of wine, though she hasn't responded to his offer yet.

Demitri first learned about the Wicked movies while auditioning for Disney's Snow White, where he was cast as a supporting artist. Having seen the Wicked stage show nine times, he told his agent he was eager to audition for the film adaptation. After a successful audition, Demitri filmed his scenes in a potato field near Milton Keynes. The first movie required nine weeks of filming, and the second, titled Wicked for Good, took an additional four weeks.

One of the most memorable moments for Demitri was performing the opening number, 'No-one Mourns the Wicked', which was filmed 25 times to capture different angles and moments. The cast had to learn all the lyrics and harmonies because the audio was recorded live, making it important not to mime. Demitri enjoyed working with talented people and had a chance to chat with Ariana Grande during a break. He said the entire experience was magical and he felt proud to represent Coventry. Demitri believes that persistence is key in acting, and if you keep pushing, eventually things will fall into place.
