Paris Modest Fashion Week: Headscarves Meet Berets in Floral Streetwear Showdown!

Paris recently hosted Modest Fashion Week, a special event where nearly 30 designers from around the world presented their collections. The clothes on display were long, loose, and often included headscarves, reflecting the styles many Muslim women choose to wear for religious reasons. The event took place in Hôtel Le Marois, a grand mansion near the Champs-Élysées, and the runway was filled with dresses in floral prints and nature-inspired colors. Designers like Hicran Önal from Turkey and Nada Puspita from Indonesia showed off their romantic and elegant dresses, while Australian designer Aisa Hassan used warm, autumn colors and even included a bucket hat to represent her heritage.

French brands like Soutoura and Nour Turbans brought a different style to the show, focusing on streetwear with boxy shapes and sporty looks. Their outfits were influenced by Gen Z trends and included items like nylon jackets, jewel-toned fabrics, and even a beret worn over a headscarf. This mix of traditional and modern styles showed how modest fashion is changing and becoming more popular, not just among Muslim women but also with people from other backgrounds. The market for modest fashion has grown a lot in the last ten years, and experts say people will spend over $400 billion on it by next year.

The location of the event was important because France has strict rules about wearing religious clothing in public places. For example, teachers and government workers are not allowed to wear headscarves, and burkinis are banned in most public swimming pools. Despite these rules, designers like Fatou Doucouré from Soutoura said showing her collection in Paris made her feel proud and hopeful. She believes that women who dress modestly can do any job and be part of any society. Many young people who attended the show said it made them feel more accepted and happy to see their culture represented in such a big way.
