Jimmy Carr, a well-known comedian who began his career in stand-up comedy back in 1997 and later became a familiar face on television, is now stepping into the world of movies. Recently, Jimmy appeared on BBC Radio Manchester and shared that he is feeling nervous about some big news he will receive on Monday. He explained, 'I don't get to be nervous a lot of the time, but I'm kind of nervous today because on Monday I find out whether I'm in the movie business or not. ' This is because his new film, a comedy period drama called 'Fackham Hall,' is being released in cinemas this weekend.

Jimmy described his movie as a mix of different styles, saying, 'I've done Aeroplane meets Downton Abbey with a little sprinkle of Richard Curtis - I really like it. ' The film features well-known actors such as Damian Lewis from Homeland, Tom Felton from Harry Potter, and Anna Maxwell-Martin from Motherland. 'Fackham Hall' is a parody film, which means it makes fun of other movies and shows in a clever way. The movie will be shown in cinemas across the country starting Friday, December 12. Jimmy is so excited about the release that he plans to watch it as many times as possible. He said, 'I think I might do it twice today because I'm in Sheffield tonight at San Marino and then I'm staying in Leeds so I might go and see it twice there too. ' He added, 'How often do you get to do that in life? This might be the only time I ever have a movie release. '

Jimmy believes that watching a comedy movie with other people is special because laughter is something people share. He said, 'That cinematic thing, especially for comedy, is you want to watch that with other people, and you want the reactions, because it's visceral. Laughter is mimetic - we do it because we hear other people do it, we join in, it's performative. ' He also praised the film's director, Jim O'Hanlon, for giving the movie its unique style, similar to the classic comedy 'Naked Gun. ' Jimmy explained that the actors had to play their roles seriously for the comedy to work. He said, 'I've got a lot of friends that are comedians. I didn't give any of them a part in the movie. You know why? Because they would have been funny - and you have to play a movie like this absolutely straight. ' He joked, 'Damian Lewis is in it. We didn't tell him it was a comedy, we just said go read these lines. '

Despite the serious acting, Jimmy promises the movie is packed with jokes. 'The film has 297 jokes in it, with three per scene,' he said. 'It's fun - if you don't like a joke in the movie, please don't panic, there'll be another one along in 20 seconds. ' After the movie release, Jimmy will perform his first Manchester arena show at the AO area on December 16, followed by several gigs in London. He is looking forward to spending Christmas with his family after his busy schedule. 'I've got little kids and stuff - so it's kind of joyful,' he said. Jimmy also shared that he enjoys the small moments of connection that come with the holiday season, like going to carol services and midnight mass. He said, 'It doesn't matter whether you believe or not, it's just nice to sing a song. ' Jimmy hopes his new movie will make people laugh and that everyone has a wonderful holiday.
