Sam Fender Strikes a Chord with £25K Boost for Autism Music Magic

AutismAble, a charity based in South Shields, has received a generous donation of £25,000 from the popular singer Sam Fender. AutismAble is a community interest company that supports people with autism and learning difficulties in the Tyne and Wear region. The donation was raised from Sam Fender's recent concert tour. On top of that, the charity Youth Music matched the donation, so AutismAble ended up with a total of £50,000. This large sum will help the charity continue its work and expand its programs for neurodivergent people.

Ian Black, who leads the music outreach program at AutismAble, expressed his gratitude for Sam Fender's support. He explained that their program, called Future Collaborations, is designed to help young people create music together. According to Ian Black, with just a bit of support, young people can gain confidence, discover their voices, and make real progress in music. He said that Sam Fender's donation is very important to the charity and to the young people in the North East who deserve these opportunities.

Sam Fender is not only known for his music but also for his generosity. Earlier this year, he received the Brit Award for song of the year, which was presented to him by Robbie Williams, another famous singer. Olivia Dean was also present at the event. Youth Music, the charity that matched Fender's donation, announced that there is still another £50,000 to be given to a project in north-east England, with half of that money coming from Sam Fender. The second project to receive the funds will be announced in August. Carol Reid, the interim co-head of Youth Music, said that their focus is on working with local charities that provide life-changing opportunities for young people who are often overlooked. She mentioned that these organizations do important work, even if they are not always in the spotlight.
