Coronation Street & Emmerdale Unite for Explosive 'Corriedale' Crossover Event!

Corriedale is a unique crossover episode that brings together the characters from two of the UK's most popular soap operas, Coronation Street and Emmerdale. Julia Goulding, who plays Shona Platt in Coronation Street, described the experience of filming with the Emmerdale cast as feeling like 'one big family. ' The special episode centers around a dramatic collision on the M62 motorway, where characters from both shows meet under intense circumstances. Goulding shared that her role involved many night shoots, often lying on the floor for hours due to her character's pregnancy, but she found the experience enjoyable and full of energy thanks to the friendly atmosphere on set.

The hour-long episode is set to air on ITV1 and features a storyline that begins with a minibus crashing into a car, leading to a series of stunts, including a coach bursting into flames. Isabel Hodgins, who plays Victoria Sugden in Emmerdale, said it was 'surreal' to be part of the Corriedale team and felt privileged to participate in the crossover. The episode also allows viewers to interact by voting for one of four pre-filmed scenes, making the broadcast more engaging and giving fans a chance to influence the story.

Executive producer Iain MacLeod, who oversees both Emmerdale and Coronation Street, was inspired to create Corriedale by his own experiences commuting on the M62. He saw the motorway as a natural link between the two fictional worlds and wanted to explore what would happen if characters who would never normally meet were brought together. MacLeod emphasized that while the episode starts with a serious accident, it also includes humorous and heartfelt moments. He is excited for viewers to see the result and has watched the episode multiple times, still feeling thrilled each time. MacLeod confirmed that Corriedale is a one-off event, with no plans to make it a permanent show, making this crossover a special treat for fans.
