Celebrity Nail Artist and TikTok Star Spark Culture Day Fun at College

One Sixth Form College in Ipswich recently held a Culture Day festival, bringing together students and staff to celebrate the many different backgrounds represented at the school. The event focused on themes like identity, heritage, and belonging. One of the special guests was Shea, a celebrity nail artist who has worked with famous people such as Cynthia Erivo from the Wicked movies. Shea gave a live demonstration of nail art, showing students how she creates her designs and sharing stories about her experiences working in the film industry. Students gathered around her, some wearing colorful flower garlands, and watched as she painted nails and talked about her creative process.

Another highlight of the day was the visit from Dean Commerado, known as DIY Dad on TikTok. Dean worked with students to build 'wellbeing' benches, which are meant to give people a place to sit and talk if they are having a hard time. The students signed the benches with positive messages, hoping to spread kindness and support. Dean explained that while technology is important, it’s also valuable to learn practical skills and create things with your hands. He believes that building the benches helps students connect with each other and encourages real conversations. The benches will be placed at construction sites around the region so workers can use them when they need a break or want to talk.

The festival also included a cultural fashion show, where students wore traditional outfits from their home countries. They walked down the runway, smiling and proud to share their heritage with others. Omran, a 19-year-old refugee from Afghanistan, spoke about how important it is to learn about other cultures. He said that understanding different traditions and languages helps people communicate and get along better. The Culture Day event was filled with music, art, and activities that helped everyone appreciate the diversity at their college. It was a day for learning, sharing, and celebrating what makes each person unique.
