Barcelona agree shirt sponsorship deal with war-torn DR Congo

Barcelona, one of the most popular football clubs in Spain, has signed a four-year sponsorship deal with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Starting next season, Barcelona players will wear training shirts with the words 'DR Congo - Heart of Africa' on the back. The deal is reportedly worth 44 million euros, although the exact amount Barcelona will receive has not been made public. The Congolese government believes this partnership will help raise the country's profile internationally, especially at a time when DR Congo is facing serious challenges, including conflict in the eastern part of the country.

The agreement has sparked debate among people in DR Congo. Some citizens are upset because their own football league has suffered from a lack of funding for many years. They argue that the government should focus on improving sports and other important services at home instead of spending so much money on deals with foreign football clubs. However, government officials defend the decision, saying that the partnership with Barcelona will attract attention to DR Congo and could lead to more tourism and investment. As part of the deal, Barcelona's famous Camp Nou stadium will host an exhibition to showcase DR Congo's culture and sports traditions. In addition, 50 young Congolese footballers and 10 coaches will travel to Spain for a special training camp. Barcelona will also organize sports camps for children in basketball, handball, and roller hockey.
