Woman completes granddaughter's unfinished novel

In a touching story of love and remembrance, Lorraine Martin has completed a novel that her granddaughter, Allana Raine King, began writing before her untimely death. Allana, who was just 19 years old when she passed away in 2018 due to complications from a rare brain condition called encephalitis, had poured her heart into her writing. Lorraine, who hails from Weston-super-Mare, shared that Allana had managed to finish about 90% of her novel before her passing. Despite having no prior experience in writing, Lorraine took on the challenge of completing the book, feeling that it was a way to fulfill Allana's dream. The novel, titled 'Land of the Free,' is now available for purchase at Waterstones in Bristol, and Lorraine expressed her joy at seeing her granddaughter's work finally published. Lorraine fondly remembers Allana as a vibrant and compassionate young woman who had a unique ability to connect with others. 'By the time she was a teenager, Allana was rarely without a notebook, recording her feelings and daily experiences,' Lorraine said. The story follows a young man named Rocky who navigates a dystopian world dominated by technology. Lorraine revealed that Allana had left behind extensive notes, which made it easier for her to finish the story. Initially, Lorraine felt overwhelmed, but she soon realized that she needed to give it a shot. The captivating storyline drew her in, and she found herself in a creative zone where the words flowed naturally. At the time of her passing, Allana was preparing to attend university to study creative writing, a dream that Lorraine had always hoped would come true. Now, with the book published, Lorraine feels that her dream for Allana has been realized. Additionally, half of the proceeds from the book will be donated to Encephalitis International, an organization that supports the thousands of people diagnosed with this condition in the UK each year.
