Isle of Man's Easter Art Bash Bursts with Color and Creativity!

A vibrant and colourful art exhibition has opened in the Isle of Man's capital, bringing together the work of 98 artists. The annual Easter Art exhibition, organised by the Isle of Man Art Society, is being held at the Villa Arcade in Douglas. This year, the exhibition features 356 pieces of art, including oil, acrylic, and watercolour paintings, as well as ceramics and sculptures. The artwork is displayed along metal panels in a grand room with black and white tiled floors, creating a striking setting for visitors. Some of the pieces show the rugged Manx coastline, while others include prints of Peel harbour, paintings of tigers, and purple flowers.

Linda Quirk, the Secretary of the Isle of Man Art Society, described this year's exhibition as 'vibrant with lots of colourful pieces. ' She explained that many of the artists were inspired by the island's landscapes, with lots of art depicting the land and sea, popular views, and even some more unique areas of the Isle of Man. In preparation for a yearlong celebration of the Manx language in 2026, artists were also encouraged to include Manx Gaelic in their work. This has added a special touch to the exhibition, connecting the art to the island's culture and heritage.

The Easter Art exhibition has been running since 2004 and gives members of the Isle of Man Art Society a chance to display their work, with some artists exhibiting for the first time. Linda Quirk said that showing art in an exhibition can be a huge benefit for artists, especially if they sell a piece for the first time. It can help them become more creative and encourage them to make more art and join more exhibitions. She also said that there is a good variety of art mediums to see this year, and she can't think of another exhibition on the island with such a wide range of artwork. The event costs £1 to enter, but children can visit for free. The exhibition is open until Monday, from 10:00 in the morning until 18:00 in the evening, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the colourful and creative art on display.
