School fundraises for New York dance opportunity

A school in Swindon has started a fundraising campaign because its students have been given a unique opportunity to perform in New York's Times Square. The children from Lawn Manor Academy will take part in an event called Dance The World, where they will dance alongside performers from all over the globe. Additionally, they have been invited to work with a cast member from a Broadway show, which will help them improve their dancing skills. Natasha Dixon, the head of dance at the school, expressed her excitement, stating that this will be the first time the school takes students to the United States. To support the trip, the school is reaching out to local businesses for assistance and organizing various fundraising events. The students are thrilled to represent the UK in such a prestigious location. Times Square is famous for its bright lights and bustling atmosphere. Ms. Dixon shared her enthusiasm, saying, 'It’s truly going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience to perform in Times Square in front of hundreds of people, and I can’t wait to see their faces light up. ' The students took the initiative to enter the event themselves, and the entire trip will be funded by their own efforts. To ease the financial burden on their families, they have come up with several creative fundraising ideas, including a bake sale and a sponsored walk from Swindon to Marlborough and back. They are also looking for support from local businesses. Ms. Dixon explained that the trip will cost just over £2,000 per student, in addition to expenses for costumes and other smaller costs. She added, 'We’re also appealing for any local businesses who would like to help, either by sponsoring a pupil or providing some of the clothing and equipment we need to take with us. ' The students are set to perform in Times Square in July of next year, and they are eager to make this dream a reality.
