Buzzing Surprise: 10,000 Bees Take Over Bike Near Paris Louvre

A swarm of at least 10,000 bees caused a buzz in Paris when they settled under the seat of a bicycle parked outside the Louvre museum. The bike was locked to the railings near the entrance of the Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre metro station on a Saturday afternoon. Not long after the bike was parked, the bees gathered in a large cluster, surprising people passing by and those using the metro.

Paris transport officials noticed the unusual situation and decided to close the metro entrance for safety reasons. They quickly called a local beekeeper to help remove the bees. Volkan Tanaci, an urban beekeeper, arrived at the scene on his own bike. He explained that the bees were probably following a queen bee, which is common when a swarm is looking for a new home. The beekeeper carefully collected the bees, making sure not to harm them, and moved them to a safer place.

The owner of the bicycle, who uses the Instagram account @ma_pauvre_lucette, shared the whole event online. He said that his grandfather's old bike had only been parked for about thirty minutes before the bees arrived. The pictures and videos showed the bees covering the seat and part of the bike. After the beekeeper finished his work, the metro entrance was reopened and everything returned to normal. The event was unusual and caught the attention of many people in Paris, reminding everyone of the important role bees play in the city and the need to protect them.
