Orkney's Internet Back Online After Epic Undersea Cable Fix Adventure!

Recently, people living in the Orkney islands faced a major problem when their internet stopped working. The issue was caused by a broken subsea cable that connects the islands to the internet. This cable runs between Evie and Westray, and when it broke, it left hundreds of people in places like Sanday and Stronsay without any internet access. About 500 customers in the North Isles were affected by this outage, which made it difficult for them to work, study, or stay in touch with friends and family.

The company responsible for the cable, BT Group, quickly started working on a solution. They brought in a special repair ship to fix the cable, but the ship could only do its job when the weather was clear. Because the Orkney islands are known for their rough seas and rocky seabed, it took several days of good weather before the repairs could be finished. The company explained that the cable had been damaged by wear and tear from the harsh conditions under the sea, especially in the Pentland Firth area.

To prevent this kind of problem from happening again, BT Group decided to move the cable to a different route under the sea. This new route should help protect the cable from getting damaged in the future. After the repairs were completed, BT Group announced that internet services had been restored to the North Isles. They apologized to the local communities for the disruption and thanked everyone for being patient while the repairs were being made. Now, people in Orkney can enjoy being connected to the internet again, and life on the islands can return to normal.
