Sports Students Get Backstage with Jason Derulo's Dance Crew for Pre-Show Magic

Sports therapy students from the University of Wolverhampton had a unique opportunity to work with professional dancers during Jason Derulo's The Last Dance World Tour. The students were invited backstage at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, where they provided pre-show treatments to the dancers. These treatments are important because they help the dancers prepare their bodies for the high-energy routines they perform on stage. The students wore navy tops with a wolf emblem, and they took a photo with one of the male dancers, who wore a shirt that said 'Turn up the heat. ' Everyone in the photo looked happy and excited to be part of the experience.

The students' work was supervised by their teachers to make sure everything was done correctly. After helping the dancers, the students received very positive feedback. The dancers thanked them and said the treatments helped them get ready for the show. The students were also allowed to stay and watch the concert, which made the experience even more memorable. One of the students, Anthea Beckford, said she felt proud to help the dancers. She mentioned that she used to show her daughter videos of Les Twins, a famous dance duo who were part of the show, to inspire her. Seeing them perform live was a dream come true for Anthea.

Their lecturer, Aisha James-Smith, explained that it is important for students to see the different career paths available to them. Working with performers and touring groups is different from traditional sports therapy, but it is just as rewarding. The students learned that the performance environment is intense and demanding, but it also offers many exciting opportunities. The university's sport and exercise therapy degree teaches students how to help people in many different settings, including sports, rehabilitation, and elite performance. This experience showed the students that their skills can be used in many ways, and it gave them confidence to try new things in the future.
