Kidderminster's Last Loom: Artist Mourns Carpet Museum's Final Weave

Charlotte Blazier, a textile artist from Kidderminster, is feeling heartbroken because the Museum of Carpet in her town is closing down. Charlotte has used both of these looms and says that in the past, families would have similar machines in their homes. Everyone in the family, including women and children, would help spin wool and weave it into carpets. This was called piecework, and families would get paid for the cloth or carpets they made.

Charlotte is upset because she feels that the history of Kidderminster is being forgotten. Many of the old buildings from the carpet-making days have been torn down, and she worries that the town’s heritage will disappear.
