Thousands of Kids Unite for Joyful Holiday Sing-Alongs Across Sussex!
This December, East Sussex will be filled with music and joy as more than 2,400 primary school children from 84 schools come together for a series of festive concerts. These young performers will take the stage at three major venues: the Brighton Dome, Glyndebourne, and De La Warr Pavilion. The concerts are part of the One Voice program, which is organized by Create Music and aims to give children the happiness of singing together. The festival will run from December 2 to December 16, with a total of 11 shows scheduled across the county.
Peter Chivers, the director of Create Music, expressed his excitement about the event, especially since it is the first time the concerts will be held at the Brighton Dome. He said, 'The program continues to grow, giving thousands of children the joy of singing together, the confidence to perform, and the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a large musical community. ' Chivers believes that music is important for children's wellbeing and helps them feel connected to others. He also highlighted how the One Voice program shows the positive impact that can happen when schools and cultural organizations work together.
This year's concerts will feature a wider variety of songs than ever before. The children will sing music from Europe, the USA, and Lebanon, and there will be special celebrations for Hanukkah. The performances will include a massed choir of key stage two pupils, a soloist from Glyndebourne, and young musicians from Create Music, such as the youth string ensemble and brass ensemble. The festival is partly funded by Glyndebourne and Arts Council England. The schedule includes four concerts at the Brighton Dome on December 2 and 3, five concerts at Glyndebourne near Lewes from December 9 to 11, and two concerts at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill on December 16. These concerts are expected to bring communities together and give children a memorable experience of singing and performing during the holiday season.
