Harry Potter studio to build real school for cast

A real school is being set up at the famous Warner Bros Studios Leavesden, the place where the Harry Potter movies were filmed. This new school is not just a movie set, but an actual learning space for the child actors who will be working on the upcoming Harry Potter television series. The local government, called Three Rivers District Council, has given the studio permission to use a group of portable buildings as classrooms for the next ten years. These buildings are designed to be flexible and can be moved if needed, but they will serve as a real school for the young cast members.

The main reason for building this school is to help the child actors keep up with their education while they are busy filming the new TV series. Sometimes, when there are big scenes with lots of extras, the school could have up to 600 students at once. However, on most days, there will be about 150 students using the classrooms. The school will be open on weekdays from 5:30 in the morning until 8:30 at night. This long schedule is necessary because the young actors often have to film at different times, including at night or during reshoots, so they need a flexible school day to fit their studies around their work.

The new Harry Potter series is expected to be filmed at the studio for the next 8 to 10 years, and the school will only be there for that time. The planning documents for the school do not mention Harry Potter by name, but they do talk about a major new TV series that will be based at the studio for a long time. Dominic McLaughlin, a young Scottish actor, has been chosen to play Harry Potter in the new show. The casting process was very competitive, with 32,000 children auditioning after an open call in September. The school is partly already in place, as some of the plans had started before the official permission was given. This new school will help the young actors balance their education and acting careers, making sure they do not fall behind in their studies while working on one of the most exciting TV projects in recent years.
