Historic Estate Goes Dark for Amazon's Sparkling School Holiday Shoot!

Wrest Park is a historic estate in Bedfordshire, known for its beautiful stone walls, tall windows, and unique domed roofs. Many people enjoy visiting Wrest Park, especially during school holidays. However, this year, the estate will be closed to visitors for more than a week because Amazon is filming a new production there. The closure starts on Friday and will last until 25 February, which means it will be closed during the half-term break. This has disappointed some families who were planning to visit.

English Heritage, the organization responsible for taking care of Wrest Park, explained that allowing film crews to use the estate helps them earn extra money. This money is important because it helps pay for the upkeep and protection of the historic site. English Heritage admitted that closing Wrest Park during the school holidays was a difficult decision, but they believe that the benefits of hosting high-profile filming projects are worth it. They said that these projects help ensure that places like Wrest Park can be enjoyed by future generations.

Silsoe Parish Council, which represents the local community, informed residents about the filming and the planned use of fireworks on Sunday and Monday. The fireworks will take place in the afternoon and evening as part of the filming. The council also made sure to talk to the neighbor who lives closest to the estate, especially because they have animals that could be disturbed by the noise. Wrest Park is a popular location for filming and has appeared in a Lily Allen music video and the movie Downton Abbey: A New Era. Amazon is currently working on several other projects in the UK, including a sequel to the romantic comedy Red, White & Royal Blue and a new show starring Sophie Turner. English Heritage hopes that by supporting film projects, they can continue to care for Wrest Park and keep it open for everyone to enjoy.
