Free piano pledge to young Harlow player

Teon, a 17-year-old self-taught pianist from Harlow, Essex, became an internet sensation after a video of him playing an abandoned piano went viral, attracting over 100,000 views. The piano, which was found outdoors, was in poor condition, with almost half of its keys missing, making it impossible to play some of the lower notes. Despite these challenges, Teon managed to create beautiful music, which touched the hearts of many people online. Jamie, a 15-year-old friend who is also self-taught, decided to rescue the piano by moving it to his grandad's garage to protect it from further damage caused by weather or vandalism. Jamie hopes to restore the piano so it can be played properly again.

Helen Cable, a 51-year-old woman living near Wakefield in West Yorkshire, saw Teon's video while scrolling through Facebook. She was deeply moved by the music and the story behind it. Helen remembered that she had a piano at her family home in Oakwood, Enfield, which her late father had bought for her about 35 years ago. The piano had been sitting unused for many years, and Helen had considered selling it. However, after watching Teon's performance, she decided to donate her piano to him instead. Helen said, 'It just went into my heart and my soul and that was it, I just thought, I have a piano, let's give this guy a piano. ' She described the moment as both sad and happy, seeing how Teon was able to make something beautiful out of an old, broken instrument.

Helen is now looking for help to transport the piano from London to Essex so Teon can have it. Teon expressed his gratitude, saying it was 'perfect timing' because he had been searching for a secondhand piano online. He feels very thankful for Helen's kindness and believes that having a proper piano with more keys will allow him to play more difficult songs and improve his skills. Teon hopes to become a professional pianist in the future if he continues to develop his talent. This story highlights the power of music to connect people and the impact of generosity in helping young musicians pursue their dreams.
