Only the Poets Host £1 Gig to Spotlight Unsigned Music Stars!

Only the Poets, an indie pop band from Reading and Banbury, are giving unsigned musicians a rare opportunity. At their upcoming sold-out show at the O2 Brixton Academy in London, they will let a new, unsigned act open for them. This is a huge chance for a group or artist who does not have a record deal yet. The band is also making the event affordable by selling all tickets for just £1, the same price they charged for their very first gig seven years ago.

To find the opening act, Only the Poets will review submissions from unsigned artists and pick five finalists. These five acts will perform at the Purple Turtle in Reading on 31 January. Fans will then vote for their favorite, and the winner will get to play at the big London show. The band has promised that all five acts will be paid for their performances at the Purple Turtle. This is a way for the band to give back to the music community and help new talent get noticed.

Frontman Tommy Longhurst explained that the band wants to keep music accessible, especially for young people. He said they want to start a conversation about making music events open to everyone, not just those who can afford expensive tickets. People attending the gig are also asked to donate £1 to a charity that supports live music and entertainment. There are some extra fees for the tickets, but these have been reduced because of the band's efforts. Only the Poets have previously supported big names like Lewis Capaldi, Yungblud, and Bastille. Their debut album, 'And I'd Do It Again,' will be released soon. This event is not just a concert but a celebration of new music and a chance for unsigned artists to shine.
