Amazon's Mega Hubs: 4,000 Jobs and Robots in Northampton & Kettering!

Amazon has officially opened a new fulfilment centre in Northampton, which is a big step for the company and the local area. This centre is designed to help Amazon deliver packages faster to customers in Northampton and the East Midlands. Adriana Genes, the operations manager, explained that her team worked very hard to get the centre ready. She wore a bright orange safety vest and talked about how excited everyone was to start working in the new building. Amazon is also planning to open another centre in Kettering, which is less than 20 miles away. This means even more people in the region will get their orders quickly.

The Northampton fulfilment centre is huge. It is as big as 26 football pitches and has four floors. Each floor is filled with robots that help workers pick and pack items for customers. There are about 1,600 robots and 75,000 places where items can be stored and picked up. Wiktor Sierko, another manager at Amazon, said the building is very modern and uses new technology that has not been seen in the UK before. The centre is a large grey building with an Amazon sign on it, and it is surrounded by fields and a car park.

Amazon says that the new centre will create 2,000 jobs in Northampton. People have already started working there, and packages are being sent out to customers every day. The company is also building a new centre in Kettering, which will be the biggest cross-dock facility in the UK. This means it will be a place where goods are quickly sorted and sent out to customers or delivery companies. The Kettering centre will also create 2,000 permanent jobs and hundreds of seasonal jobs during busy times. Amazon is investing a lot of money in these new centres, and they hope it will help the local economy and make deliveries even faster for everyone.
