Irish Engineers Strike Gold in AI Power Boom with Billion-Pound Deals!

Irish engineers and companies are seeing huge financial success thanks to the rapid growth of artificial intelligence, or AI. One of the latest examples is TES Group, an engineering firm based in Cookstown. TES Group was recently bought by Legrand, a major French industrial company. While the exact price was not shared, it is believed to be over £100 million. TES Group became valuable because it designs and builds power systems for data centres, which are large buildings filled with computer servers. These data centres are essential for running AI services, and they need a constant, strong supply of electricity to keep the servers running and cool.

Big tech companies like Microsoft and Google are spending billions to build more data centres as they compete to offer the best AI services. This has created a lot of business for companies like TES, which provide the special power equipment needed for these centres. TES Group's chief executive, Brian Taylor, said the company has grown very quickly in recent years, even opening a new factory in Ballykelly. After being bought by Legrand, TES will keep operating from both Cookstown and Ballykelly. In Cork, Dornan Group was sold to an American company for €400 million, and in Dublin, Winthorp Technologies was bought by a global investment firm. However, the biggest success story is Philip O'Doherty, who sold his Donegal-based company, E&I Engineering, to Vertiv Holdings in the US. He received cash and shares, and as Vertiv's share price soared with the AI boom, O'Doherty's wealth grew to about £2. 5 billion, making him one of Ireland's most successful industrialists.
