Jennifer Lopez files for divorce from Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially getting a divorce after two years of marriage. Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, as reported by various news outlets. The couple, often referred to as 'Bennifer' by the media, got married in Las Vegas in July 2022 and celebrated with a larger wedding ceremony in Georgia the following month. Their love story began back in 2003 when they met while filming the movie Gigli. They had plans to marry that same year, but their relationship ended in early 2004. Nearly twenty years later, they rekindled their romance. Lopez expressed her feelings about love, saying, 'Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient. ' This statement came after they announced their Las Vegas wedding. According to court documents, Lopez or her lawyer must inform Affleck about her petition to end their marriage. Interestingly, Lopez had changed her last name to Affleck after their marriage, but she did not include any details about a prenuptial agreement in her divorce filing. The court documents indicate that both Lopez, who is 55, and Affleck, who is 52, are required to share their financial information, which includes their current income, expenses, properties, and debts. They must also report any changes to their financial situation until a final agreement is reached regarding all financial matters. The court has given Lopez 60 days to submit her financial disclosure, and Affleck will have another 60 days to do the same after she submits her information. If either of them fails to provide or update their financial information, they could face penalties from the court. There has been much speculation about their relationship in recent months. Reports suggest that they have put their Beverly Hills mansion up for sale for $65 million and have been seen out separately without their wedding rings. Affleck was previously married to actress Jennifer Garner, whom he met while filming the movie Pearl Harbor in 2001. They divorced in 2015 after ten years of marriage and share three children. Lopez has been married four times before. Her first husband was Ojani Noa, followed by Cris Judd, and then Marc Anthony, with whom she shares twins.
