From Bar Gig to Alien Star: Singer's Out-of-This-World Supergirl Role

Winnie Ama, a singer from Belfast, had an unexpected and exciting opportunity that changed her life. One evening, after performing her original song 'What Are We' in a bar, she was approached by a movie director with a question many musicians only dream of: 'Would you like to be in my film? ' Winnie was thrilled but soon learned there was a unique challenge involved. To be part of the new Supergirl movie, she would need to perform her song in an alien language.

Two weeks after meeting the director, Winnie and her pianist were invited to audition officially. Winnie had never acted before, so she was nervous and sweating, but she managed to impress the team and was given the role. She was quickly fitted for costumes and began preparing for her part as a singing alien in the Supergirl film, which was released in UK cinemas in June. Getting ready for filming was a big job. Winnie had to wake up at 4am to travel to the set and spend four hours getting her hair, makeup, and costume done. The transformation was so complete that she looked like a real alien, with bright blue eyes, a beaded wig, and metallic accessories. At the end of each day, all the makeup had to be carefully removed.
