Wildlife Wonders: Stunning Photos Splash Back in Brighton's Top Exhibit!

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, known all over the world, has returned to Brighton Museum and Art Gallery. This exciting event is on loan from the Natural History Museum and will be open to visitors from 9 May until 6 September. The exhibition is now in its 61st year, showing how long it has been inspiring people. This year, the competition received more than 60,000 entries from photographers of all ages and experience levels. People from 113 countries and territories sent in their best photos, making it a truly global event.

The exhibition features a wide variety of stunning images. For example, there is a photo of a large group of jellyfish swimming in green water, which looks both beautiful and mysterious. Another striking image is a black and white photo of three young cheetahs holding a Günther’s dik-dik in their mouths. Other photos include a fallow deer fawn hiding among logs and trees, a caracal catching a flamingo, and a lynx standing on its back legs while playing with a small rodent. These photos capture special moments in the lives of animals and show the amazing diversity of nature.

The photos were judged by an international panel of experts during a week at the Natural History Museum. The judges looked for creativity, originality, and technical skill, and they did not know who took each photo to make sure the judging was fair. One photographer, Wim van den Heever, was recognized for his picture of a brown hyena standing next to the ruins of an old diamond mining settlement. According to a spokesperson from the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, the exhibition highlights powerful and fascinating images that reveal hidden animal behavior and the breathtaking variety of the natural world. The museum hopes that these photos will inspire people to care more about animals and the environment. Hedley Swain, the chief executive of Brighton and Hove Museums, said it is an honor to host such important work, especially since the city values creativity and conservation.
