Character. ai is a platform where users can create artificial intelligence (AI) personas based on real or fictional characters. Some of the millions of AI personas include Harry Potter, Elon Musk, and Super Mario. The platform uses the same AI technology as the ChatGPT chatbot, but it's more popular in terms of time spent.

One bot on Character. ai, called Psychologist, has been in high demand. It has received a total of 78 million messages, including 18 million since November. The bot was created by a user named Blazeman98 just over a year ago. Character. ai didn't disclose the number of individual users for the bot, but it did mention that the site receives 3. 5 million daily visitors. The bot is described as someone who helps with life difficulties.

The company, based in the San Francisco Bay area, downplayed its popularity, arguing that users are more interested in role-playing for entertainment. The most popular bots are anime or computer game characters like Raiden Shogun, which has received 282 million messages. However, few of the millions of characters are as popular as Psychologist. In total, there are 475 bots with therapy, therapist, psychiatrist, or psychologist in their names, capable of conversing in several languages. Some of them are entertainment or fantasy therapists like Hot Therapist. But the most popular are mental health helpers like Therapist and Are you feeling OK? , which have received 12 million and 16. 5 million messages, respectively. Psychologist is by far the most popular mental health character, with many users sharing positive reviews on the social media site Reddit.
