Metallica to play at Hampden during new UK tour

Metallica, one of the most renowned heavy metal bands in the world, has announced an exciting new leg of their M72 tour, which has already seen them perform across Europe and North America. This tour is particularly special as it includes six concert dates in the UK and Ireland during the summer of 2026. The band will kick off their UK shows at Hampden Park in Glasgow on June 25, 2026. Before that, they will perform two concerts in Dublin on June 19 and June 21. Following their Glasgow performance, Metallica will head to Cardiff to play at the Principality Stadium on June 28, and then they will wrap up their UK tour with two shows at the London Stadium on July 2 and July 5. This will mark their first performances in the UK since they headlined the Download festival in 2023. The M72 tour has been ongoing for four years and has already included numerous dates in Europe and North America, with plans to visit Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East later this year. The band released a new album in 2023, which has been well-received by fans and critics alike. What makes the upcoming concerts in London and Dublin particularly interesting is that they will feature 'no repeat' shows. This means that fans attending these concerts will be treated to different setlists and opening acts each night. On the first night in Dublin and the second night in London, fans can look forward to performances by the French metal band Gojira and the American band Knocked Loose. Conversely, on the second night in Dublin and the first night in London, the opening acts will be the legendary band Pantera and the band Avatar. Gojira and Knocked Loose will also be the supporting acts for the shows in Glasgow and Cardiff. This tour is especially significant for Metallica as it will be their first performance in Cardiff since 1996 and their first show in Glasgow since 2017. For those eager to attend these concerts, tickets will go on sale starting May 30 at 10:00 AM. However, fans who are members of the band's fan club will have the opportunity to purchase tickets early, beginning on May 27.
