Queen Elizabeth II's fashion to feature in exhibition

Queen Elizabeth II was famous for her elegant and thoughtful fashion choices throughout her long life. To celebrate what would have been her 100th birthday, Buckingham Palace is planning a major exhibition next year that will showcase her clothing and style. The exhibition, called 'Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style,' will feature around 200 items, including dresses, hats, shoes, and jewelry. These items will come from different periods of her life, starting from her childhood and continuing through her decades as queen.

One of the highlights of the exhibition will be Queen Elizabeth II's wedding dress, which she wore in 1947 when she married Prince Philip. The dress was designed by Sir Norman Hartnell, a well-known British designer. Visitors will also see a silver lamé and tulle bridesmaid dress that the Queen wore at the age of eight to her uncle's wedding. The exhibition will not only focus on her formal outfits but also include more casual clothing, such as riding jackets, tartan skirts, and headscarves, showing the different sides of her personality and life.

The exhibition will also explore how Queen Elizabeth II used fashion as a way to communicate. For example, she wore a green and white gown to a state banquet in Pakistan in 1961, using the colors of the Pakistani flag to show respect for the country. There will be dresses from the 1970s that reflect the more relaxed and colorful styles of that era. Alongside the clothes, visitors will find design sketches and handwritten notes about her clothing choices. The curator, Caroline de Guitaut, said the exhibition will celebrate the Queen's unique British style and her lasting influence on fashion. Through these carefully chosen outfits, the exhibition will tell the story of Queen Elizabeth II's life and the important role that fashion played in her public and private life.
