UK police question comedian Russell Brand over historical sex assault allegations: reports

Russell Brand, a well-known comedian and actor from the United Kingdom, has been in the news for some serious reasons. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police in London have brought him in for questioning. This is because there have been some claims made against him about things that might have happened a long time ago, which are called historical sex offences. The Sunday Times, a major newspaper, reported this story.

Back in September, the British police announced they were investigating several claims of these old sexual offences. This happened after some reports in the media said that women had accused Russell Brand of a series of sexual assaults. The Sunday Times and a TV show called Dispatches said that four women accused him of these crimes, including one very serious one, between 2006 and 2013.

Russell Brand has spoken out against these accusations. He said on social media that he has never been involved in sexual activities without consent. His representatives didn't immediately respond to the latest news. The police said that a man in his 40s, who they didn't name, came to a South London police station on November 16, 2023. They interviewed him about three old sexual offences. The police are still trying to figure out what really happened.
