The film, directed by Christopher Nolan, is based on the ancient Greek poem about Odysseus, a hero who faces many challenges on his long journey home after the Trojan War. The story, written almost 3,000 years ago, is one of the most famous tales from ancient Greece. The movie is being shot in several countries, including Morocco, Greece, and Sicily, but a significant part of the filming has taken place along the Moray Firth coast in Scotland.

On Monday, both Tom Holland and Matt Damon were seen in the coastal village of Burghead. Tom Holland, known for his role as Spider-Man, was spotted wearing sunglasses and a red life jacket while sitting in an inflatable boat near the harbor. Matt Damon, who has starred in movies like Good Will Hunting and The Martian, was dressed in ancient Greek armor and a grey cloak, complete with a bushy grey beard. He smiled and waved to onlookers as he stood by the harbor wall. In The Odyssey, Damon plays the main character, Odysseus, while Holland takes on the role of his son, Telemachus. Burghead is a village with a rich history, known for its ancient ruins and a unique tradition called the Burning of the Clavie. Every year on January 11th, villagers carry a barrel of burning tar through the streets to celebrate the old New Year, lighting up the night with flames and excitement.

After filming in Burghead, the cast and crew traveled by small boats to Culbin Forest, a large area with sandy beaches, salt marshes, and dense pine trees. The car park at Culbin was closed for several days to allow for filming. Other Scottish locations featured in the movie include the fishing port of Buckie and the ruins of Findlater Castle near Cullen. The production also used the Draken Harald Hårfagre, a modern replica of a Viking ship, which was seen moored in Inverness and sailing in the Cromarty Firth. During breaks from filming, the stars explored Scotland. Tom Holland’s partner, Zendaya, visited an ice cream shop in Inverness and took a selfie with a local worker. Matt Damon was seen in Edinburgh and even posed with a football shirt from the local club Bonnyrigg Rose. Director Christopher Nolan visited a small cinema in Elgin to watch a movie starring Brad Pitt. The Odyssey is set to be released next July, and many Scottish residents are looking forward to seeing their local landmarks on the big screen.
