Larry Lamb having rhyme of his life writing poems

Larry Lamb, the well-known actor from Gavin and Stacey, has returned to writing poetry after more than forty years. He first started writing poems in 1983, inspired by his own life and the way he saw the world. Over the years, Larry has also written a novel and an autobiography, showing his love for storytelling in different forms. In 2020, while looking through his attic, Larry found a file of his old poems and decided to share them with a poet friend. His friend was very impressed and encouraged Larry to do something special with his poetry. This support motivated Larry to start writing poems again, focusing on the same period in his life that inspired him decades ago.

Larry says he enjoys writing poetry because it gives him control over his words and ideas. He finds the process fascinating, especially when he compares his new poems to the ones he wrote in the 1980s. He feels that he has gained more experience and wisdom over the years, which helps him write even better poems now. Larry is excited to read his work publicly for the first time at the Hereford Military History Festival on September 27. He will also share some of his favorite childhood poems during the event. Being close to Wales for the festival is special for Larry, who jokes that he is '1% Welsh.

In addition to his poetry, Larry will be promoting his novel All Wrapped Up with a series of UK dates from September to December. One of his stops will be Barry, a beach famous for scenes from Gavin and Stacey, on December 2. Larry joked about swimming in the cold winter water wearing only his 'birthday suit,' and handing out masks so people would not see him. He hopes to follow up his book tour with a poetry tour, sharing stories and poems with audiences all over the country. Larry is enjoying his creative journey and looks forward to connecting with fans through his writing and performances.
