The Reytons Rock Wembley: From Yorkshire Doubts to London Triumph!

The Reytons, an indie rock band from Yorkshire, are preparing for a major milestone in their career: their first performance at Wembley Arena in London. This event is especially meaningful for the band, as it represents a form of 'validation' after years of overcoming doubts and proving themselves. The four members of the group—Jonny Yerrell, Lee Holland, Joe O'Brien, and Jamie Todd—will take the stage at the 12,500-seat venue on Saturday, which also marks the release of their new Roll the Dice EP. Lead singer Jonny Yerrell shared that when the band first started, many people told them they would never make it outside of Yorkshire and should not try to grow beyond their local scene. Despite these doubts, the Reytons have played shows around the world, including in Tokyo, and now they are set to headline one of London's most iconic venues.

The band's journey has been marked by several significant achievements. In 2023, they released their album What's Rock And Roll? independently, selling copies at a pop-up shop in Sheffield's Meadowhall. This was followed by a sold-out homecoming concert in Rotherham's Clifton Park, where they performed for 20,000 fans in July 2024. The Reytons also made history as the first unsigned band to headline the Tramlines Festival in Sheffield in 2025. Preparing for their Wembley show, the band rehearsed at Network in Sheffield, a venue that holds special memories for them. Yerrell recalled their first headline show there in November 2017, describing it as a place they always return to. Guitarist Joe O'Brien remembered being so nervous before that show that he threw up, highlighting the emotional rollercoaster of their early days.

As they look forward to their Wembley debut, the band acknowledges the emotional significance of the moment. Yerrell said there will likely be tears as they reflect on their journey and the challenges they've overcome. He sees performing in London as a form of validation, especially considering the skepticism they faced at the beginning. Bassist Lee Holland compared the experience to winning a cup final. Looking ahead, the Reytons plan to continue their independent approach by self-releasing their fourth album next year. Yerrell emphasized the importance of creative control and ownership, stating that they prefer to be responsible for both their failures and successes. The band encourages fans to share stories they want covered in Yorkshire and remains proud of their roots and achievements.
