Over 100 wood fossils, some dating back to 5. 3 million years ago, have been put on display in a Hong Kong park. Visitors are permitted to touch these ancient remnants. The late Nina Wang Kung Yu-sum, a billionaire and chairwoman of Chinachem Group, amassed these fossils. The first phase of the park's redesign to showcase these fossils was inaugurated on a Friday, and it was opened to the public free of charge.

Chinachem, the creator of Nina Park in Tsuen Wan, announced that over 100 pieces of museum-grade wood fossils would be exhibited. This is the largest collection of its kind in an urban park in Asia. Visitors are allowed to touch the exhibits. The fossils originated from West Java, Indonesia, and began to form between 2. 6 million to 5. 3 million years ago during the Pliocene era.

Chan Lai-kiu, the park's designer, assured that there were no concerns about potential damage to the fossils. The collection includes the 'Sun Fossil', a 30-metre petrified wood piece that ranks as the seventh largest in the world. Donald Choi, the CEO of Chinachem, stated that the park would be opened in phases as some fossils were still being delivered or prepared. The park, which spans an area of 6,500 square metres, also houses the Wood Fossil Experience Centre, aimed at educating visitors about fossils and geology.
