From Lilo to The Ring: Remembering Daveigh Chase's Iconic Roles and Life

Daveigh Chase, a well-known actress, passed away at the age of 35. She was famous for her role as Samara Morgan, the ghostly girl in the horror movie The Ring, and for being the voice of Lilo in Disney's animated film Lilo & Stitch. Daveigh started her acting career very young, beginning at age four and landing her first Hollywood job at seven. She was also the English voice of Chihiro in the popular animated movie Spirited Away and played a role in the TV drama Big Love. Her manager, John Ryan Jr, confirmed that she died from sepsis after suffering from meningitis in a Los Angeles hospital. Before her death, she had been admitted to the hospital for malnourishment.

Daveigh was not interested in the Hollywood lifestyle. According to her manager and friend of 15 years, she preferred to stay out of the spotlight and often spent long periods at her home in Las Vegas. She loved cats and worked with cat rescue groups. In 2002, she became famous for her role as Samara in The Ring, a movie about a cursed videotape. Her performance won her the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain. That same year, she voiced Lilo in Lilo & Stitch, earning an Annie Award for her work. She continued to voice Lilo in other projects and appeared in TV shows like Charmed, ER, and Touched by an Angel. She also played Rhonda Volmer in the HBO series Big Love. Later in life, Daveigh faced some legal troubles, including charges for drug possession and joyriding. Despite these challenges, she is remembered for her unique talent and the memorable characters she brought to life. Her death is a loss to fans and the entertainment industry.
