Next-Gen Moonboots: What Will Future Lunar Footprints Reveal?

The footprints left by the Apollo astronauts on the Moon are some of the most famous images in history. Comfort is also very important. The Artemis missions will include the first woman to walk on the Moon, so the boots need to fit a wider range of foot sizes than before. Instead of making a custom boot for each astronaut, the new boots will come in several sizes and can be adjusted with padding and straps. The new boots are being designed to keep dust out and to be easy to clean. The old Apollo boots had a hard outer layer that made the famous pill-shaped footprints. The Artemis boots might use a similar design, but with better grip for walking on the Moon's rocky surface.
