New exhibition highlights domestic abuse

A new art exhibition titled Reconnected has opened its doors at the JARO Gallery in St Helier, Jersey. This exhibition is particularly significant as it aims to provide a voice to individuals who have been affected by domestic abuse. The artwork displayed in the gallery has been created by people who have personal experiences with domestic abuse, allowing them to express their emotions and stories through their art. The exhibition is part of Domestic Abuse Awareness Week and will be available for viewing until March 15. Cathy Sara, the founder and CEO of the charity Kairos Arts, is the driving force behind this event. She explained that the exhibition seeks to explore the emotional journey that individuals go through when facing domestic abuse. It highlights the challenges they encounter and the hope and empowerment that can arise from their experiences. Cathy emphasized that through art, individuals can reconnect with themselves and find healing. In addition to showcasing artwork, Kairos Arts is also selling artisan products made by women from India and Bolivia who have experienced trauma. Cathy pointed out that every product sold contributes to the well-being of the artisan who created it. Each sale made in Jersey will help support the ongoing therapeutic work that the charity does with both adults and children. This exhibition not only raises awareness about domestic abuse but also provides a platform for healing and support for those who have been affected.
