Coldplay to break Taylor Swift's Wembley record

Coldplay, the renowned British band, is set to make history by performing an incredible ten nights at Wembley Stadium in London next summer. This remarkable achievement will break the previous record held by Taylor Swift and Take That, who each played eight nights at the iconic venue. Initially, Coldplay had announced a six-night run, but due to overwhelming demand from fans during a special presale event, they decided to add four additional shows. The general ticket sales will commence at 9 am on Friday, September 27, with prices starting at a very reasonable £20, plus additional fees. Unlike some other artists, Coldplay has chosen not to implement a dynamic pricing model, which adjusts ticket prices based on demand. Instead, they have committed to keeping all ticket prices fixed at the advertised rate, ensuring that fans can purchase tickets without worrying about sudden price increases. The upcoming concerts are part of their tour to promote their tenth studio album, titled Moon Music, which is scheduled for release on October 4. In addition to the ten nights at Wembley, Coldplay will also perform two nights at Hull's Craven Park Stadium, with half of the tickets reserved for local fans living in specific postcodes. These twelve concerts will mark Coldplay's only European performances in 2025. Earlier this year, the band headlined the prestigious Glastonbury festival, where they shared the stage with a variety of talented musicians, including Michael J Fox, Little Simz, Femi Kuti, and Elyanna. The concert received rave reviews, with The Independent praising the show and The Guardian noting that it was impossible not to be swept away by the performance. Even Hollywood star Tom Cruise, who watched from a VIP area, described the concert as 'amazing. ' During their set, Coldplay also gave fans a sneak peek of songs from their upcoming album. Chris Martin, the band's frontman, hinted that this could be their last major album, stating in a previous interview that after 2025, they might only tour. However, he later clarified that the band still has plans for two more albums, expressing their commitment to creating music. Coldplay has made a name for themselves by headlining Glastonbury five times, a record that no other band has achieved. The presale tickets for their 2025 tour were made available to fans who pre-ordered Moon Music, and the initial batch sold out in just about 20 minutes. One fan reported that the Ticketmaster website displayed a message indicating that there were no tickets available shortly after the presale began. Recognizing the high demand, Coldplay added four extra dates at Wembley, with presales starting at 2:30 pm BST. This ten-night residency will solidify Coldplay's status as the act with the most performances at Wembley Stadium in a single year. Previously, Taylor Swift and Take That shared the record with eight nights each. Coldplay had already played six nights at Wembley during their 2022 world tour, meaning that their upcoming tour will double the previous record. The band has also taken significant steps to minimize the environmental impact of their concerts, announcing earlier this year that they had achieved a substantial reduction in their carbon footprint compared to their previous world tour. Additionally, they have made efforts to combat rising ticket prices by offering £20 'Infinity tickets' for every show. These tickets are sold in pairs and can be placed anywhere in the venue, including the best seats. For the Wembley dates, a pair of tickets will cost around £52 once fees, including the stadium's sustainability fee, are added.
