Skye is a talented 14-year-old musician from the North East of England who is quickly making a name for herself. Her journey began when she was just a child, singing along to ABBA songs in the back of her mum's car. Inspired by her love for music, Skye picked up the guitar and piano, and by the age of nine, she was busking on Newcastle Quayside. With her beanie hat, acoustic guitar, and microphone, she performed for people walking by, with the River Tyne and the High Level Bridge as her backdrop.

Today, Skye is one of four young singer-songwriters studying at the Centre for Advanced Training at The Glasshouse in Gateshead. The Glasshouse is an international music center that overlooks the very spot where Skye used to busk. Since joining the academy, Skye has developed her musical skills even further. She recently had the opportunity to work with the Young Northern Sinfonia Orchestra, a group of 30 musicians, to perform her own song, 'Run Like Rain. ' Skye described the experience as amazing, saying it felt like performing a poem to herself in a huge space.

Her tutor, Sam Rapley, is impressed by Skye's creativity and dedication. He says she is not only a talented songwriter but also comes up with many of the ideas for how the orchestra should play her music. The Glasshouse, which was previously known as The Sage, celebrated its 20th anniversary in December. To mark the occasion, the music venue has launched a new project to double the number of students it can teach and to make music education more affordable. They plan to offer £500,000 in bursaries each year to help students pay for music classes. The Glasshouse also hopes to encourage more young people to consider a career in music. As for Skye, she plans to keep writing new songs and hopes to attract the attention of streaming services. She says music is a way for her to express herself and she wants her lyrics to have meaning for others, so they can connect with her music.
