The artist, San B, who lives in Brentwood, Essex, spent over 1,000 hours carefully placing each crystal and two-carat diamond by hand. The portrait shows Marilyn Monroe in a gold top with her signature red lipstick, capturing her glamorous style. San B said he wanted to make a piece of art that was not only beautiful but also meaningful, encouraging people to think about why Marilyn Monroe is still such a popular and important figure in culture.

The artwork, called 'Marilyn Monroe: Immortal,' will be displayed at the Iconic Images Gallery in Piccadilly, London. San B explained that he chose to use crystals and lab-created diamonds to make the portrait shine and catch people’s attention. He believes Marilyn Monroe is more than just a movie star; she is a symbol of emotion and fame, making her the perfect subject for this special project. San B has created other well-known portraits, including one of Queen Elizabeth II for Rolls-Royce, and has made pictures of celebrities like Anthony Joshua and Bruno Mars. His work has been shown at famous places such as Christie’s and The Savoy, and he has raised over £500,000 for charities through his art.

On July 2, the Marilyn Monroe portrait will be sold at a private auction. Part of the money raised will go to Caudwell Children, a charity that helps disabled and neurodivergent children and their families, and Caudwell Youth, which supports young people who are at risk. Dana Carpenter, who works for the company that manages Marilyn Monroe’s estate, said the artwork is as unique and complex as Marilyn herself and is a wonderful way to celebrate her 100th birthday. The artist hopes that everyone who sees the portrait will remember Marilyn Monroe’s lasting impact on the world and how she continues to inspire people of all ages.
