Superman would like more kindness, say stars of new reboot

The new Superman movie has arrived, and its stars believe the world could use more kindness, just like Superman would want. The film had its premiere in Leicester Square, London, with director James Gunn, lead actor David Corenswet, and other cast members like Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult attending. This movie is important because it is the first in a new series of DC superhero films, and a lot is riding on its success. David Corenswet, who is 31 years old and has acted in shows like The Politician and Hollywood, is now the fourth actor to play Superman in a major film. It has been a decade since someone new played the role. Rachel Brosnahan, famous for The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, plays Lois Lane, Superman's long-time love interest.

This version of Superman is different from the last one played by Henry Cavill. Instead of being dark and serious, Corenswet's Superman is cheerful and optimistic. The movie is meant to start a new era for DC Studios, which James Gunn and producer Peter Safran took over in 2022. Even though Henry Cavill said he would return as Superman, Gunn and Safran decided to cast someone new. To celebrate the premiere, a giant statue of Superman, modeled after Corenswet, was placed on top of The Shard in London. The statue is 11 feet tall and weighs more than 120 kilograms. It was a dramatic way to get people excited about the film.

When asked what Superman would think about the world today, Corenswet said Superman would want to see more kindness. He described Superman as someone who enjoys helping others and wants to inspire people to take responsibility. Rachel Brosnahan said Superman would always step in to help anyone in need, without asking questions. Nicholas Hoult, who plays the villain Lex Luthor, added that Superman would want to see more goodness in the world. Hoult believes this new version of Superman will be different from other superhero reboots that have not done well. He said that James Gunn's version is fun and celebrates what it means to be human. Hoult also thinks that superhero movies can still be popular if they have good stories and characters that inspire people.

Fans are looking forward to seeing more of the relationship between Superman and Lois Lane in this movie. Brosnahan said the film really shows how their relationship develops and makes both characters feel more human. She likes that the movie is not an origin story, so it can focus more on the characters and their connections. Other heroes in the film include Green Lantern, Metamorpho, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific. DC Studios has had trouble making big hits recently, but this movie is expected to do well and set the tone for future films like Supergirl and Clayface, which are coming in 2026.
