Get Ready to Dance: Epic Beach Fest Brings 2000s Hits to Weston-super-Mare!

Weston-super-Mare is getting ready for a brand new music festival called Summer Fest on the Beach, which is set to take place this weekend. The festival will feature a lineup of popular acts from the 1990s and 2000s, including Craig David, Sister Sledge, Dizzee Rascal, and Blue. Festival director Ian Rogers said that around 35,000 people are expected to attend, even though the weather forecast predicts heavy rain. Rogers explained that the festival is a big investment, costing about £3. 5 million to organize, and he hopes that people will come out to support it and help make it a success for the town and the surrounding area.

The festival will kick off on Friday with a live orchestra playing classic dance hits from the 90s and 2000s, joined by some of the original singers. Saturday's lineup includes Five, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and Feeder, while Sunday will feature Madness as the main act, along with Sister Sledge, Razorlight, The Feeling, and others. Summer Fest on the Beach is inspired by the old T4 on the Beach event, which used to attract tens of thousands of people to Weston-super-Mare but ended in 2013 due to low ticket sales. Rogers said that many people feel nostalgic about T4 on the Beach, and that's why they wanted to create a festival that brings back those memories. He admitted that the rainy weather has affected ticket sales, as more people usually buy tickets when the forecast is sunny.

Despite the weather, the festival organizers are encouraging people to come prepared and enjoy the event. Rogers said that music festivals often have to deal with unpredictable weather, and people should dress accordingly. Some free tickets were shared with event partners, but not with the general public. North Somerset Council has been working with the festival organizers to make sure everything runs smoothly. They expect the festival to bring more visitors to the town, which will help local businesses, shops, and hotels. The council has arranged for extra trains, a park and ride service, and special parking to help people get to the festival. The event will also have themed bars, street food from around the world, a funfair, stalls, and face painting. The festival opens at 3 pm on Friday and will run from 11 am to 10:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Organizers hope that, despite the rain, the festival will be a fun and memorable experience for everyone who attends.
