Kingfishr Rocks Derry: From Pub Singalongs to Sold-Out Stadium Shows!

Kingfishr, an indie-folk band from Limerick, Ireland, is making waves in the music scene. The group, made up of Eddie Keogh, Eoghan 'McGoo' McGrath, and Eoin 'Fitz' Fitzgibbon, is set to perform at Live at the Square in Ebrington on Monday night. Around six thousand fans are expected to attend the concert, showing just how popular the band has become. Over the past year, Kingfishr has topped the Irish music charts three times with their viral hit Killeagh, and their debut album Halycon also reached number one.

Earlier this year, the band visited Peadar O'Donnell's, a well-known pub in Derry. While there, fans encouraged them to sing Killeagh, turning the night into a memorable singalong. Many people in the pub recorded the performance on their phones, and Eddie Keogh took photos with fans and staff. Eddie has a special fondness for Derry, recalling how much fun they had filming a music video in the city. He said, 'We were out in Peadar's both nights, down drinking pints and the response was crazy. ' He even stood on a chair to sing with his bandmates, saying he feels more comfortable performing on a table than on the floor. Eddie loves the energy and spirit of Derry, calling it one of his favorite towns in Ireland.

Despite their growing fame, Kingfishr remains down-to-earth. Eddie said he doesn't like the idea of bands being distant from their fans. He explained, 'We started in college singing at house parties and going out and doing things you can do in your twenties. Sure look, it's great craic. ' The band has toured in Australia, the US, and the UK, but they always enjoy coming home to play for their Irish fans. Eddie believes nothing beats the excitement of a home crowd. He also mentioned how proud he is to be part of a new wave of Irish music, alongside other acts like Amble, The Mary Wallopers, CMAT, Fontaines DC, and Kneecap.

The upcoming concert in Ebrington sold out in just minutes, according to concert promoter Niall O'Kane. He said, 'We believe that they are the biggest and hottest ticket in Ireland at the moment and the fans here are in for one of the greatest nights. ' The event also aims to support local talent. Karl Diamond, a spokesperson for Live at the Square, said that local band 4AM will have the chance to open for JLS next weekend. He said, 'That's a great opportunity for them and we want to build on that in the years ahead. To give local talent a chance to shine. ' With Kingfishr's growing success and their commitment to their fans and local music, the concert promises to be a memorable night for everyone involved.
