Brandon Flowers Wonders: Is Rock Stardom Really Worth the Ride?

Brandon Flowers, the lead singer of The Killers, is taking a break from his band to focus on his solo career. After 25 years of performing with The Killers and singing hits like Mr Brightside and Human, Brandon decided to explore a different kind of music. Growing up in Nephi, Utah, he was surrounded by country music, thanks to his dad who played Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard in the car. Those memories inspired him to create his new album, Thrasher, which he recorded in Nashville with some legendary musicians.

On Thrasher, Brandon sings about his childhood, his experiences working in Las Vegas casinos, and even the loss of his brother-in-law. He also addresses serious issues like the opioid crisis that affected his hometown. Brandon says that making this album was something he could not have done when he was younger. He feels that he has more life experience now, which helps him write deeper and more meaningful songs. He performed some of his new music at the Newport Folk Festival, where he was joined by singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus.

Brandon often wonders if being famous is really as great as people think. He talks about how he tries to keep his family away from the pressures of fame and how success does not always bring happiness. He remembers his father, who lived a simple life but was very content. Brandon also talks about his marriage and how being away from home can sometimes make his relationship stronger. He even wrote a new song to fix a lyric from a previous album that made some fans question their relationships. Although The Killers are on a break, Brandon says they will make more music together in the future.
