Casting Director's Race: From Sister's Wedding to Emmy Spotlight!

Matt Lander, a casting director originally from Kidderminster, is facing a busy and exciting weekend. He has been nominated for an Emmy award for his work on the drama miniseries All Her Fault, which is a big honor in the television industry. However, before he can attend the Emmy awards in Los Angeles, Matt has an important family event to attend—his sister Emma's wedding in Worcester. Matt left his hometown when he was 18 to follow his dreams in the United States, but he has always stayed close to his family. He says that family means everything to him, and he wants to be there for his sister on her special day.

Emma is marrying her fiancé David Elcock, and Matt is determined to support her and their father, who has dementia and might not be able to do all the traditional father-of-the-bride duties. Emma says she is extremely proud of Matt and calls him a key part of their family. She remembers how Matt flew back from America last November to help her find her wedding dress, and he even bought it for her. Matt plans to leave the wedding celebrations very early on Sunday morning, taking a car to London at 4 a. m. and then catching an 8 a. m. flight to Los Angeles. If everything goes as planned, he will arrive just two hours before the Emmy ceremony begins.

Matt's former teacher, Brenda Lines, remembers him as a popular and articulate student who was always eager to participate in school activities. She says he was driven to succeed and stood out from the crowd. Brenda believes that Matt's interest in people makes him perfect for his job as a casting director. She is proud of his achievements and thinks his Emmy nomination brings positive attention to Kidderminster. Despite his Hollywood career, Matt says returning home helps him stay grounded. He admits that he sometimes feels like he does not deserve all the praise he gets, but he is grateful for the support from his family and hometown. Matt moved to the US to experience something new, not just to work in Hollywood. After studying at an American college, he worked different jobs before finding his passion in casting. He says the job requires a great memory for actors and a good understanding of people. All Her Fault has received seven Emmy nominations, including Matt's for outstanding casting. Another series he worked on, Margo's Got Money Troubles, has eight nominations. Matt is proud to be part of these successful projects and hopes to continue making his family and hometown proud.
