BepiColombo will study Mercury's surface, core, and unusual chemicals in detail, using advanced instruments to measure its gravity, magnetic field, and surface composition. Scientists hope that this mission will help them understand how Mercury formed, why it is so dense, and why it has chemicals that should have been lost to the Sun's heat. They also hope to learn more about how planets form in other solar systems, since Mercury is similar to some exoplanets found around other stars. For now, Mercury remains one of the biggest mysteries in our Solar System, challenging our understanding of how planets are made.
