Musk described this new party as a challenge to the two main political parties in the US, the Republicans and the Democrats. He believes that the current two-party system does not give Americans enough choices and that it is time for something new. Musk said, 'By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it! When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom. '

However, it is not clear if the America Party has been officially registered with the US election authorities. Musk himself cannot run for president because he was born outside the United States, and he has not said who will lead the new party. The idea of starting a new party came up after Musk had a public argument with former President Donald Trump. Musk and Trump used to be close allies, with Musk supporting Trump during his campaign and even bringing his young son to meet Trump in the Oval Office. Musk also gave Trump a large amount of money to help him win the election. After Trump won, Musk was given a job in the government to help find ways to save money.
