Adventure Awaits: Follow the Superworm Story Trail in Jersey's Park!

The story trail is making its return to Jersey, and this year it will be held at Millennium Park. The event is designed to encourage children to read while enjoying the outdoors. Every Child Our Future, a charity in Jersey, is organizing the story trail for the third year. Their goal is to help children and families connect with books in a fun and interactive way. The trail will begin with the story Superworm, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. As families walk through the park, they will find display boards showing each page of the story, allowing them to read along as they move from one board to the next.

Emma Firth, the programme manager for the charity, said they are thrilled to be running the story trail again. She explained that using a well-loved story like Superworm in a family-friendly park gives children a memorable way to enjoy books. It also encourages them to explore the outdoors and share experiences with their families. The story trail is part of the REAL in the Park event, which is happening during the Jersey Festival of Words. This festival celebrates stories and literature in many different forms, bringing people together to enjoy reading and storytelling.

Pippa Les Quesne, the director of the festival, said that the Festival of Words is all about celebrating stories in every form. She believes the story trail is a fantastic way to take stories out of books and into the community, helping children and families enjoy literature in a playful and interactive way. The event gives everyone a chance to discover new books, spend time together, and have fun outdoors. By making reading an active and social experience, the story trail helps children develop a love for books and learning. The return of the story trail shows how important it is to find creative ways to inspire young readers and bring families together through stories.
