Bergerac's Comeback Sparks Jersey Tourism Boom and Scenic Adventures
The popular TV drama Bergerac has sparked new interest in Jersey, a small island known for its beautiful scenery and unique charm. The show, which was recently rebooted and filmed on location in Jersey, has had a noticeable impact on tourism. According to Visit Jersey, a group that promotes the island, research from the summer found that 8 percent of visitors said they were influenced to come to Jersey after watching the new Bergerac series, which premiered in February. Even more interesting, 70 percent of those visitors were coming to Jersey for the first time, showing that the show is attracting new people to the island.
Tricia Warwick, the chief executive of Visit Jersey, explained that Bergerac has helped Jersey reach new audiences. She hopes the next season will continue to boost tourism. The first season, which is a remake of the original Bergerac series from the 1980s and 90s, showed off Jersey’s stunning landscapes and what the island has to offer. Warwick said, 'We are thrilled to see Bergerac return for a second series, showcasing even more of Jersey’s stunning landscapes and unique charm. ' She added that the first season reignited global interest in Jersey, and she looks forward to welcoming both returning fans and new visitors who want to explore the places featured in the show.
Filming for the second season has finished, and more than 100 cast and crew members stayed in Jersey during production. The show used several local spots for filming, including St Brelade’s Bay, the Havre Des Pas lido, Fort Regent, and the Old Court House pub. The pub, which was known as 'Bergerac’s pub' in the original series, was turned into a restaurant called Tomassi’s for the new version. Actors like Damien Molony and Chloe Sweetlove were seen filming scenes at these locations. The show’s scenes often feature Jersey’s coastline, beaches, and historic towers, making the island look inviting and picturesque. With Bergerac’s return, Jersey is once again in the spotlight, and tourism officials hope the trend will continue as more people discover the island through the show.
