Guernsey Airport's Giant Mural Welcomes with Puffins and Island Vibes!

Guernsey Airport has just revealed a huge and vibrant mural at its check-in area, created by local artists Tiffany Anna and Woodie. The mural is designed to inspire people who live on the island, welcome visitors, and show off the unique spirit of Guernsey. The artwork features important symbols from the island, such as a puffin, the Guernsey lily, seaweed, and even a bee. These images were chosen because they represent the natural beauty and special character of Guernsey. The artists wanted everyone who comes to the airport to feel the warmth and friendliness of the island as soon as they arrive.

Tiffany Anna and Woodie worked closely together to bring the mural to life. Woodie used spray paint for some parts, while Tiffany Anna had to climb scaffolding to paint the giant puffin. The mural is about 6 meters high, making it a major achievement for both artists. They also included the coordinates of Guernsey Airport, stenciled onto the mural, to make it even more personal and connected to the location. Woodie said that the mural is so big that photos cannot really show how impressive it is. He enjoyed working on the project, even though there were some challenges along the way. He usually works with spray paint, acrylics, and paint markers, but for this mural, he had to use wall paint and emulsion, which was a new experience for him.

The artists were careful with their color choices, avoiding colors like red that might remind people of stop signs or cancellations, which are not good feelings for an airport. Tiffany Anna said she feels very proud and lucky to have painted such a large piece in such a busy and important place. She admitted that the size of the mural was a bit intimidating at first, but working with Woodie made it easier. They wanted the mural to be bright and cheerful, but also calming, so that people would feel relaxed and happy when they saw it. The mural is now finished and on display for everyone to enjoy. There is also a painted piano in the terminal, decorated with blue, pink, and yellow colors and showing a Guernsey landscape. The artists hope their work will make people smile and feel welcome every time they visit Guernsey Airport.
