Join the Choir Fun: Sing Stunning Classics with New Friends!

Wombourne and District Choral Society is inviting people in Wolverhampton and nearby areas to join their choir for a special 'Come and Sing' event. This event will take place at Springdale Methodist Church, Penn, Wolverhampton, on Saturday, 14 March. The choir, which has been active since 1929 and currently has around 90 members, is hoping to attract new singers and bring the community together through music.

The event is open to anyone who enjoys singing, whether they have choir experience or not. Those who can read music or have sung in choirs before will get the chance to perform Fauré's Requiem and Cantique de Jean Racine, which are considered some of the most beautiful pieces in choral music. However, the society also encourages people who have never sung in a choir to come and try it out. Experienced members will be there to help newcomers learn and enjoy the experience. Dr Edward Caine, the musical director, will lead the rehearsals, which start after registration at noon. The day will include intensive practice sessions before the informal concert at 16:45.

Participants pay £15 to join the singing event, and they are encouraged to invite friends and family to the free concert. The choral society says this is a wonderful opportunity to relax, enjoy music, and meet new people. After the Covid pandemic, the choir lost some members, but they kept their community spirit alive by sending out a monthly newsletter called 'In Harmony. ' Dr Jonathan Clarke, the society's piano and organ accompanist, will play at the event. The group believes that singing together is not only musically rewarding but also a lot of fun.
