'I was cast alongside Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield in my first film'

Lee Braithwaite is an emerging actor who has recently made his film debut in a movie titled 'We Live In Time'. This film is particularly significant for him as it features well-known actors such as Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield. Lee expressed his feelings of gratitude, stating that he feels 'very fortunate' to have been part of this project. In 'We Live In Time', Lee portrays a character named Jade, who is a commis chef working alongside Florence's character, Almut. Almut is a young chef who faces the challenges of being diagnosed with cancer. Lee shared, 'I couldn't have wished for a better first film experience,' highlighting the positive impact this role has had on him. Working alongside Florence Pugh was a source of inspiration for Lee. He admired her talent and dedication, saying, 'It was really inspiring to be able to watch her in her natural environment and how she works. ' Andrew Garfield, who plays Almut's partner Tobias, was also a significant presence on set. Lee mentioned that Andrew was his favorite Spiderman actor during his childhood, making the experience even more surreal. He recalled a memorable moment on set when all three characters came together for a crucial scene. 'There was a moment on set when we were shooting the big culinary bit at the end, and we were watching playback on the monitors, and Florence was on the left of me and Andrew was on the right of me. I was just stood in between them. It was a real moment where I just had to breathe in and go, I feel very fortunate. ' The film premiered at the BFI London Film Festival in October 2024, marking a significant milestone in Lee's career. On the night of the premiere, Lee was performing in a play at the National Theatre. He had to walk the red carpet in an outfit borrowed from the theatre's costume department because he did not have anything suitable to wear. After the premiere, he quickly returned to the theatre to perform in the evening show. To prepare for his role as a chef, Lee dedicated time to honing his culinary skills. He spent a morning in a restaurant, shadowing the head chef and gaining valuable insights into the kitchen environment. 'It was really great being able to be in the kitchen environment and watch the dynamic and watch how everyone works together as a team,' he said. Lee's passion for acting began at a young age, and he was fortunate to receive a drama scholarship to attend Harrogate Ladies' College. He participated in numerous school plays, and one of the defining moments in his journey was when he played the Artful Dodger in 'Oliver! ' at the age of 15. He recalled feeling a deep sense of joy while portraying that character and was saddened when the show ended. 'I was like, I think I need to chase this feeling because it just felt right,' he reflected. After completing his studies, Lee enrolled at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in 2020 to further develop his acting skills. Now, he is passionate about ensuring that more young people have access to the arts and theatre. He believes that engaging in the arts provides a strong foundation for personal development, not only for aspiring actors but also for anyone looking to improve their communication skills and self-advocacy. 'It's also about playfulness and joy, and I think acting and theatre groups are an opportunity that every child should have,' he emphasized.
